It may seem stupid but having elements that are not aligned in a slide is a credibility killer. We can say what we want but when it jumps to the audience's eyes, they will focus on it and lose attention. It's the kind of little time investment that can change the outcome of a presentation.

The advice I give executives is this ratio of 20% text and 80% space. YES! It seems crazy but the point of slides is to enhance your message with wow statements and not overwhelm your audience by forcing them to read. Plus, it gets you thinking very critically about what really matters, what you want to say, and your delivery ;)
