We work with all of the major booking systems (more commonly called reservation systems in the US) and have come to find in the car rental world, there are two major flavors, those that use rate codes, and those that use rental durations to hold pricing information. It is critical that if you are working in an environment that requires the support of rate codes, i.e. the broker site, GDS, or OTA require it, then it is imperative to make sure your system supports them. If you are not in such an environment, then your options are expanded. Rate codes are only the beginning and there are so many considerations that speaking to other operators in your same brand to understand what has worked and hasn't is essential when selecting a system.

Make sure the booking system you select is open to supporting your business and integrates with all the external tools key to your operation: forecasting, revenue management, rate automation, and fleet management just to name some of the critical examples.
