An example I’ve seen with teams that get the most out of data within sports is when they have an idea of metrics that they can’t quantify easily but want to understand who best exemplifies those attributes. When teams have an idea of which KPIs are most relevant for there teams success and will be adopted by players then data is accepted much more readily for a competitive advantage.

Start the conversation on a positive note by highlighting the team;s achievements and individual successes. Acknowledge and commend exemplary performance, reinforcing the importance of positive contributions. Provide specific examples of both strengths and areas for improvement. Use data and performance metrics to support your feedback, making it objective and measurable. I think that this practice sets clear and defining objectives for a team at the start of the season and will help build a strong foundation and a roadmap for them to achieve their goals and targets in the long run making sure good performance is being acknowledged in the process.
