More important than where to find the right mentor, is WHY you're finding a mentor in the first place. Do you need to know the "how"? Do you need accountability? Do you need someone to lean on for support? Identifying first, the REASON for getting a mentor will, in turn, help you find the right one.

People ask why we should take the help of a Mentor we can do everything on our own However the reality is by taking the help of a mentor you are able to cut down the time of experience you would have taken by repeating the same mistakes which he has done already When you start working with a Mentor and if he supposed to have 20 years of experience and you have 1 year then you are being benefitted with 21 Years of Overall Experience

My mentor and I began by meeting 2-3 times a month to discuss my career goals. She helped me set actionable tasks to achieve them and then held me accountable to them. We would schedule conference calls and in-person meetings, and we would spend 30 mins-1 hr connecting on a day that was convenient for the two of us. It has to be an organic connection so that both parties feel open to share. Your mentor has to be willing to share their experiences, best practices, and help guide your journey. You, as a mentee, have to be open to suggestions, constructive criticism and feedback, and willing to pivot and make changes to grow. Finally, always be mindful and respectful of each other’s perspective and time (so show up and end sessions on time).

Mentorship is one of the most valuable relationships one can have. The right mentor is someone who is passionate about change, have willingness to share experiences and share their wisdom. In order to have the trust and rapport, both must have clarity on what to expect, how much each want to share and accountability. I have been blessed with the right mentor. Who has all the qualities that allowed me to seek better for myself. Make sure you are comfortable with your mentor, be open to possibilities, and avoid narrow minded expectations.
