How can you become an expert in API development?

Learn HTTP protocols, RESTful architecture, and web services principles for a solid base. 2) Learn Best Practices: Familiarize with design principles like REST, GraphQL, and security measures such as OAuth. Optimize performance using caching and async processing. 3) Use the Right Tools: Utilize frameworks like Swagger, platforms like Postman, and version control systems like Git for efficient development. IDEs such as Visual Studio Code enhance productivity. 4) Test and Document: Employ test-driven development and document APIs thoroughly. Tools like Swagger UI automate documentation generation, ensuring clarity for users.

Best practice is code that works and is repeatable. Beware that some of the best practices are shouldn't be practiced at all. And that the solution they represent is a product of ego and lack of imagination. To develop a system that works should start with the behavioral requirements of the system that dictate the scope of the system. Then solution paths can be recognized and grouped together by configuration. By isolating the data points or aspects of the paths, these points can be dynamic to support the complete system and modified. Building from a feature based system, brings the chaos of piling on and last minute adjustments that create ripples throughout your application. Best practice is to develop a system for your system.

Testing is mandatory...but how you test is subjective. In my career I have only seen the long tedious development of tests applying to single process. In Angular we write testing files that emulate action and analyze the outcomes. If we step back and look at system development we see that a lot of these tests written are repeats with different parameters and conditions. And these conditions are set by the developer. If we take our findings one step further we would think that we could replace this instance testing with more dynamic testing code. Encapsulating the now developed tests into templates. Then base those configurations on the meta data created in the development. We need a testing system not testing instances...
