How can you balance video and written content in an article?

Balancing video and written content in an article involves integrating them to complement each other. Begin with a concise written introduction, providing context or summarizing the topic. Finally, conclude with a written summary or call to action, reinforcing the main ideas presented in both formats.

Everyone knows the value of video and great written content. The tough part involves balance. Use the copy to encourage your reader to watch the video. Most people scan words these days - make sure you maximize your video by placing within one "scroll" when possible as most people don't scroll to the end.

I would slightly disagree with this. When hosting your own video on a blog long form content may be valuable. Take for example using a Wordpress blog as your primary video platform and YouTube as a secondary platform. You can add the video to an article and the content can be a transcript. In this case the content may be long form depending on the length of video and would be relevant/intentful. With this approach you would have 1 video per article followed by a relevant transcript.

The video needs to be optimized in a way that it adds and complements to the written text. The visual needs to enhance or illustrate key points of the article for the reader to better understand your main argument. Where the video is embedded is of grave importance and considered of strategic value, as it should add value and enhance the reader’s understanding. Placed in the wrong part of the article would go completely against its purpose. A brief introduction or video summary may be needed to prepare the reader for the video and encourage them to view it to the end. They should feel that the video will add more useful info to their reading experience. And, the video should not cause a “hiccup” for the reader and not lead to confusion.

In general, I think including video in an article is a bad idea unless it's very short and absolutely necessary to the purpose of the article. Otherwise, it's a distracting context switch that's more likely to lose you the reader than provide meaningful impact.

Optimize written content and maximize video content in an article to make it a balanced one, but coherent and in sync with each other, as visual aspect appeals more to our senses than literature making it a captivating one........!
