It is all about values/core drivers. Only work with someone who shares all or most of your values/drivers. I will get on with and chat to anyone - but i choose very carefully indeed who i go into business / partnership / collaboration with.

Your main concern is others' needs, not getting a job or a gig.? But do you know what else comes to a grinding halt when you focus on others' success? Your nerves. Being concerned about your connections automatically?takes your jitters away. Networking doesn't just happen at networking events. Everything social is an opportunity to network. As a Faith-Driven Entrepreneur, one of the principles I’ve learned and applied in growing as a leader and business owner is Netweaving! This practice, very much like traditional networking, focuses on the tenets of the golden rule. When I’m in a room with other professionals & speakers, I’m seeking to find out what they need to grow their business, who’s their ideal customer/client, who would be the best contact for them to meet, or what opportunities they need right now? I take this information and match them with someone in my network to make a formal introduction for the purpose of helping them make a successful collaboration, wanting nothing in return but for them to prosper. This leads to deep and lasting relationships & business!

When I have decided to network and collaborate with others, I practice the art of active listening. I have found that one of the most common pitfalls in collaboration is failing to truly listen to others. Once I started actively engaging in listening, it allowed me to understand the perspectives, ideas, and concerns of the speakers I was networking and collaborating with. By actively listening, I demonstrated respect and encouraged meaningful dialogue, which yielded great results.
