When seeking a new job or a promotion, the key to success is networking. But you must do this prudishly. Talking about it over lunch with some of your peers is probably unwise. You never know who in your circle of associates is looking just as you are. As you ascend the ladder of success, you will find leaders who are willing to be a mentor for you. Maintain contact with them, seeking their advice. They have their own contacts and could open a door for you. Be prepared for disappointment and and move on. As you pursue opportunities, it is imperative that you maintain your professionalism. Most important is be aware of social media and while it has benefits, it can also derail you from being considered for a position.
