We can define and identify TQM elements in many different ways. However, all of it aims at enhancing Customer Experience. So, understanding Voice of the Customer is the first step. It then should be followed with gap analysis and identifying subsequent KPIs to improve processes and systems.

Objectives shall be divided into groups like operational, Performance, Financial, Quality, Customer, Environmental, Employee etc.. Efficiency- cycle Time, Turn around time, Delivery time per order, Waiting Time etc.. Financial - Operating Cashflow, Net Profit margin, Gross Profit Margin, Current account payable and receivable, Revenue growth rate etc Quality - Rejection Rate, wastage rate, Rework cost or rate, Noncompliance, Audit score etc.. Customer- Complaints per million products, CX Score, NPS etc.. Environmental- Reduction in energy consumption, Reduction in wastage, Reduction in emissions, Reduction in non-compliance etc..

This is a very important step. Setting up baseline helps establish where we are, while targets are where we want to go. Setting up goals is important, mapping them to the action owners as part of the action plan is important too.

El seguimiento de los parámetros de calidad claves de las líneas de producción (una parte especialmente de la estrategia de TQM) debe ser diario, como parte del control de performance (PCS/Performance Control System) que debe establecerse para los diferentes niveles de responsabilidad de las plantas. And here comes the importance of the closed feedback loop.. as no feedback will not help in maintaining nor improving the processes . PDCA was always a great tool recommended for improvement.
