Teacher will surely retain herself/himself in a particular work place if the work place is happy. I have always believed that if you as an employer have in your workplace a professional but family like ambiance then trust me staff will think 1000 times before filing an application to leave the job. Its my personal experience.

Retening Teachers in school is very simple Task. Let them be Teacher and Teach & Engage with Students not to engage in Meetings and Reporting. Pay them Fix Salary + Incentives on Entire students subject Performance. Regular Break after Class no extra world of Activities. Provide Regular Trainings on self Development and Students Enhancement.

Growth opportunities should be offered to the teachers. Better learning opportunities are also very good. The teachers should feel the support. They should feel the trust. All these factors help in retaining the teachers.

Praise, recognition and gratitude are powerful tools that require very little investment to provide a big return. Find time to provide each member of your staff with specific praise once every 7 days. Gallup has found that when employees can say that they have received meaningful feedback in the last 7 days they are more likely to stay. Praise the behavior and practices you want to see more of. Set aside a little time each day to write 2-3 handwritten notes or send a quick text. Keep a stack of cards easily accessible on your desk. Text three people before you leave for the day. Find a repeatable way to make this part of your practice. It also signals to others what you care about, value and look for in others.

The teacher should be recognised for these reasons; the method of teaching and reaching the students, the way of moulding them into responsible beings, the innovativeness, the contribution to the pedagogy and for collaborating her work with the other teachers. And the recognition can be given in the form of remuneration, position and awards. Those who have higher education qualifications and experiences should be given due respect.

Support the associate with counseling, guidance to deal with emotional challenges faced by them. Deal with the associate with human approach rather than as a leader.

Empowered employees always would like to bring out their best to showcase their hidden talents. Always give opportunities to your team members by understanding their strengths and avoiding to the jobs where they have some challenges like exposure to subject, language, etc. Faculty should be given opportunity in the areas like promotional events by the school, preparation of promotional materials for school, conducting educational program by giving them the role as a coordinator or HOD. Some are good in resource planning and allocation, conducting exams, maintaining discipline in the school. Encourage faculty who are good in dealing with non academic activities for the holistic development of the students.

Key point is to listen to educators idea, support good work and allow him/her to experiment new things with full ownership. Teachers and experts of their domain and they can do wonders if empowered.

I agree on this perspective the most. Teachers must have the flexibility and innovation in delivering the content, involving them in all decision making of the teaching-learning process and ably equipping them with skills to take it forward. Acknowledging , positive constructive feedback for the same certainly is the fuel for the zeal and zest to give their best.

One thing that I have found helpful in this situation, is the provision of recognised CPD in the form of NPQs for staff who are wishing to move into leadership roles, such as within the MLT, as well as the provision within the school of PLCs to encourage research and discussion around particular points of development, such as teaching and learning, marking and feedback etc. This has the advantage of developing teacher growth, as well as developing practice within the school itself.

Team building with value system will be always a difficult aspect for any academic adminstrator. Creating a cohesive work environment at your school where faculty colleagues will be able to share and care together in achieving the common goals set for the school. For example, a school is intended to adopt NEP / various Accrediations like NBA / NAAC / other international accreditations, many feel it's not their job. Hence, they fail to contribute in achieving the common vision of getting accrediation. Hence, it's paramount on part of the academic leader to share the reason for the accreditation to all the members and enligthen them the benefits of the accreditation and how each member of the team can contribute to the common vision.

Almost every weekend teachers in some private schools are called to school in the pretext of seminar , meetings. The authorities should understand that teachers also need to take rest to regain their energy levels. Even though schools made the parents pay the entire school fees during the COVID period teachers salaries were not paid in full as they were providing online classes. I know of a school where teachers were forced to come to school and conduct online classes.

Never forget that first and foremost, we’re human beings, not human doings. Give staff the space they need to develop and flourish.

Teacher retention begins with a strong induction to the school district. Novice educators who are provided with mentor support in their first years of the profession are more likely to stay. And, when those novice teachers are recognized for their strengths by being invited to share their experiences with newer colleagues, they become even more committed to the system. An essential component of mentoring for novice educators is to have mentors who look like them and/or to have access to affinity spaces. Former BEST program coordinator for Washington State, Marcy Yoshida said, "What we do for teachers, we do for students." An induction program shows teachers they are valued. Teachers who are valued stay in the profession.

I have heard of many public schools keeping teachers on contract so that they don't have to pay higher salaries. This practice should be stopped.
