If you have facts with you, then no one can beat you, it's not only give you more understanding but the confidence as well. Know the use case of RE, check the numbers and then just aware people about the misconceptions.

I think the best answer is not facts and figures. But a selling of the termendous potential of the technology. Imagine a world which we could capture the sun and wind for energy. A world whose power is renewable. You know presently in a lot of places in the world these renewable energies cost less than the alternatives. Now large areas are adding this energy to the grid. Changing the world, making use of the gifts that we have living on Earth. Dare to Dream big.

In my experience working in the renewable enery space, the pursuit of renewable energy in Europe faces a disconnect between ambition and execution and I believe we should be more vocal regardng this issue and sharing our individual ideas. While the EU envisions a green energy revolution, regulatory inconsistencies and uneven policy implementation among member states impede progress. This fragmented approach fosters a misleading perception of a unified transition, obscuring the challenges faced by each nation. To truly realize the EU's green energy goals, a more concerted effort is needed to harmonize regulatory frameworks and cultivate an environment that supports the rapid deployment of renewable energy across the continent.

Being an area of relatively recent development and pioneering technology, there is space for sharing new ideas and testimonies. Past experiences can be reformulated and new points for improvement added.

This is an essential skill to learn in order to overcome objections and change peoples minds. Listening to their point of view and thoroughly understanding why they think as they do is the first stage of an open conversation, that can lead to not only them learning from you, but also you learning from them. Once you understand their point of view you can use your knowledge to challenge their beliefs using easy to understand facts and real life experience. If enough of these objections are explained and shown to be false you are on the way to changing their mind. In the heat pump industry this is an every day occurance and listening to the views of other people is the first stage of the conversation.

Misunderstandings often stem from cultural differences or varied information sources. Using simple, relatable examples and asking clarifying questions helps deepen understanding. An inclusive, respectful approach corrects misconceptions, enriches dialogue, and acknowledges the value of diverse viewpoints in the renewable energy discourse.

A fourth way to address renewable energy misconceptions is to listen and learn from the interviewer and the questions they ask. Sometimes, the misconceptions might stem from a lack of information, a different perspective, or a genuine curiosity. You can use the interview as an opportunity to educate, inform, and persuade, but also to learn, listen, and understand. You can ask clarifying questions, provide relevant examples, and use simple and clear language to explain your points. You can also show respect, openness, and humility, and avoid being defensive, arrogant, or dismissive.

Allow yourself the ability to absorb existing ideas and experiences from older engineers. Experience in a recent and demanding area requires less experienced people to have the humility to, in some situations, just listen and remain silent.

From my personal experience, the first months are always the most challenging, where everything seems new. The engineer needs to be aware that the challenge will be enormous and that he cannot stop learning

Most firms today that put teams together come with a conviction on the business but would rely on you for specifics on growth prospects, trajectories, markets and what you’d bring to the team - both in terms of hard and soft skills. Depending on whether you’re a new entrant or a experienced industry professional, you’d need to mostly toggle between showcasing your passion and knowledge in the space, besides obviously displaying your soft skills at work.
