Anytime I’ve started working in a new industry I immersed myself in it. I would shadow the internal stakeholders at my company doing the function I’d sell to; this was a great way to get up to speed with challenges and what they do fast. I’d also read industry journals and publications. I challenged myself that if they are reading or engaging with it, that is what I need to be reading.

One of the best ways to do this is through strong account planning, as an example I use Miller Heiman blue sheets for this, one of the better account planning tools.
