How can visual design drive conversions and increase urgency?

Personally, I've grown attached to a number of brands because of their choice of colours. In developing content, it's important to understand the place of colours and how they either keep your audience's attention fixed or repels them. Ensure that the colours used in visual design are catchy and scroll-stopping, while helping you make a statement to your competitors, attain your goals and reach your target audience.

If you think Colour is just for mere aesthetics, you need to think again. Colour plays an important role in Branding, cause it evokes emotions. And so, to evoke the right emotions in your Target audience, you need to study and understand them, and also study the Psychology of colour. Let's say your Brand colour is Green and Red. It's best if you use Green as the colour for your CTA button instead of Red Cause it signifies Growth, Abundance etc. Brands that leverage this powerful tool experience Growth in terms of Sales, Leads generation, Traffic etc. Are you leveraging it?

Much like how a store window display entices customers. A great example is Booking.com. They use color psychology effectively.. red for urgency (like last-minute deals), which encourages quick decision-making.... Contrast is another tool. Using high contrast on your CTA buttons can make them stand out... Then, there’s the use of directional cues. Amazon does this well by subtly guiding your eyes towards key elements, like the 'Add to Cart' button, using arrows or product images looking towards the CTA... Don't forget that simplicity is key. Apple's website is a prime example. A clean, uncluttered design reduces distractions and focuses the user’s attention on the important elements, like the 'Buy now' button...

applying Fitts' Law in design involves making essential elements larger and more accessible, particularly those requiring rapid and accurate interaction. This not only enhances usability but also contributes to a more efficient and user-friendly design.

Social proof has helped me to build trust in recent times. From research, 80% of human resonates with and believe in what they can see; such as, reviews from people, testimonials, numbers and pictures that shows that you are good at what you do.

Every message communicated to the human mind without an image, especially in the mind (imagery) will not grasp the desired attention. Hence, the use of visual design helps create not just a mental picture for the mind to feed on which drives conversion and urgency. If and when utilized effectively, they facilitate the desired results.

Harness the Zeigarnik effect, which suggests that people remember uncompleted or interrupted tasks better than completed ones. Design your visual content to create a sense of incompletion that compels users to act to achieve closure. For instance, show progress bars in a multi-step process, indicating how close users are to completion but leaving the final step slightly unfinished. This tactic leverages the psychological need for completion, subtly driving users towards taking the final action, thus increasing conversions.
