How can UX designers align their designs with product roadmaps?

Sometimes, understanding the product vision and strategy can limit a designer's creativity. Instead, encourage designers to think outside the box and challenge the status quo. They should understand the product vision and strategy, but also feel empowered to propose new ideas that could improve the product beyond the existing roadmap.

In my experience, even teams that claim to be "one" are often separated by disparate processes that work at cross-purposes. Document the changes so that you can prioritize your tasks in line with the Sprint goal and provide the right screens/wireframes for the right increment. Always stay ahead of the development with designs. Have a review call with product manager and if required with stakeholders to get an approval for the designs created for the development in next sprint. This way everyone is onboard with the designs and you are prepared for any sudden changes.

Design should be a partner with Product Management throughout the SDLC. In order to do that, PM and design should be coordinated at the Roadmap and Vision level. That's the first place to start.
