When you do urban planning, I have learned that you start with the community that you serve. This should not be about your brand, it the community’s need or requirements.

I could not agree that as Urban Planners, we are working to focus on building personal brand. We are working to contribute to a better future for cities, for communities across countries, regions or globe, and if doing well, will have reputation to be continuously involved in transformative changes in cities.

Me especializo en planificación centrada en la comunidad, especialmente en zonas complejas. Trabajando en barrios de Ecuador, la empatía y escucha han sido claves. Aprendí que más allá de técnicas, es vital integrarse en la comunidad y entender sus necesidades. Esta especialización me permite destacarme y encontrar propósito en mi labor.

Urban and regional planning is a multi-disciplinary profession which oversees the development and survival of an urban environment. In order to achieve a sustainable urban environment one need to understand custom and the needs a particular urban area then methodology, design and approach to achieve this can follow suite.

Once the Niche is defined and research is successful, a strong reflection of the study in urban planning policies, effects, methodology adopted in similar challenges by other countries and media publications can enhance the importance of objectives and results. Number of discussions with similar and contrasting researchers can lead the focus and parameters of concern to a defnite direction for planning and implementation of these ideas. Branding helps in collaborations and social media is now a days helpful in diminishing these gaps of thoughts globally.

LinkedIn can be a great way to start networking. Also joining various membership boards like RTPI , ITPI and attending conferences, and networking events is very useful.

in my experience improve Continuously your knowledge and skills in your chosen niche. Attend workshops, conferences, and online courses. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and research. Consider pursuing advanced degrees or certifications if relevant.

Te permite aprender de expertos y tendencias. También construye confianza y reputación. Usa herramientas online como LinkedIn o Twitter, o eventos offline como conferencias para conectar.

As for an urban planner it is vital to build a strong network of decision makers in different fields. Therefore try to get out of your comfortable social bubble and don’t be afraid to meet people with different attitudes, identify informal leaders of social groups and communities and keep the track of the issues they are raising. To add to this it is also very important to develope a network of communication partners because when you deal with important projects it is vital to have a big reach of community you are working with.

Urban planning challenges are always changing and demanding new thoughts research to be incorporated time to time. hence new solutions, new research, experiments and data compilation, data analysis for the urban issues and then correlating different domains is necessity. Paradigm shift for the approaches to policy and goals is needed for reviewing the different approach to these issues. hence Planners need to develop their research, techniques, softwares and data compilations process for changing climate and urban challenges.

As values guide and motivate behaviours, authenticity will come naturally when you focus on areas of planning that are well-aligned with your personal values.

Just find something your are passionate about and devote yourself to it, try to fine that one thing that nobody else notice it and go for it.
