Recognizing the impact of training and self-development as a gateway for managers to evolve into leaders and inspire change, leaders should allocate dedicated time for teams. Emphasizing its importance prevents employees from seeing it as less crucial than daily routines, mitigating guilt or embarrassment. During one-on-one check-ins, leaders should inquire about ongoing training, seeking insights into the learning process. Encouraging team members to suggest ways to integrate knowledge into tasks is vital for maximizing training benefits. Motivating teams to align training with professional goals is essential. Connecting it to individual roles and future aspirations enhances its relevance, fostering purpose and commitment.

When considering the format don’t overlook a structured on-the-job (S-OJT) program that blends some or all formats of training delivery AND requires a formalized relationship between the “student” and their supervisor or coach. My organization uses the term coach and they have responsibilities to teach, mentor, share experience, and ensure the training aligns with performance expectations. I believe a strong S-OJT program can have a positive influence on topics 2, 3, 4, and 5 presented in this question.

This is a Very good example, and i have seen various applications of this in Organised Retail. Let me illustrate by the way of an example - I Joined Angomart in November 2022 as COO. One of the major challenges which i faced early on - was of Language. Portuguese was the main spoken language & did not know the languyage at all, coming from English speaking Country. To infuse and motivate team for various trainings - we took the help of Store Managers, who were Angolan, and had a natural Flair for Portuguese. We had this 9 Basis Standard Operating Procedures - which we called the 3 by 3 by 3. We shot 9 videos of each of the above SOPs , with 9 different store managers explaining the SOP in Portguese language. This became a Hit.
