How can storyboarding help you create a consistent pacing in your poetry?

I don't see the relevance of storyboarding when it comes to poetry, unless some new definition of that word has been created. Poetry is about emotional impact that is brought about by written illustration of all manner of life experience and events. The 'storyboards' inside the poet's mind should be there already, waiting to be portrayed in writing. IF they are not, then it simply reveals what might be called bad poetry. Poetry does not create...it supports what's already there in a very special way.

Storytelling is generally sequential. Even when it is not sequential, it is always (bad Dad pun alert) SEEquential. Storyboarding encourages unity, coherence and adequate development - staples of most writing. In screenwriting, storyboarding is essential.

Everyone has their own process. I don't storyboard, but man=y people I know do develop detailed plots. I don't, but I do know what I'm trying to write and where the story is going. I know the forest, but not yet where all the trees will be. And I do research to make sure I have an idea how the places and subjects I include fit together.

It is basically a visual framework for feedback and revision for poets just like during our preparation for exams we make several diagrams and flow charts and keep on adding and editing stuffs. By visually mapping out the structure of the poem, a poet can get an idea of various aspects including line lengths, stanza breaks, and the placement of key images or ideas, this sets the flow right for the poets. In this manner, easy experimentation with different sequences can be done to find the most effective pacing. Poets refine their work and can also make their work visually appealing as is thought by them in their heads.

I have never used story boarding for poetry but maybe this is a good idea to begin making it more consistent! This definitely looks like a good question.

I'm of the old school where storyboarding was for film scripts, and I've employed it a little as such. But not in my poetry per se. However, I have pen-and-ink illustrated whole poems and collaborated with a photographer to photo-illustrate a poetry collection. The photos did expand and enhance the depth of the poetry, IMHO. So I can see how this method might be beneficial earlier in the creative process for some poets.
