How can social workers build successful relationships with schools?

I also think there's a lot of scope for initiating students into community engagement; earlier, the better. Workshops on professional development can also be conducted.

One of the first things would be to understand the social problems the school is facing which is hindering the learning of the children. Focussing of finding the root causes and possible solutions that may potentially help the school would help open doors for the social workers to advocate their specific interventions.

As per NEP 2020, The National Education Policy 2020 outlines the role of social workers in school education. According to the policy, social workers will be involved in addressing the nutrition and health (including mental health) of children through healthy meals and introduction of well-trained social workers, counsellors, & community involvement into schooling system. Social workers will also work with students and their parents to ensure that all school-age children are attending and learning in school.

Small activities can make a significant impact on students, providing them with strength in areas where they may face weaknesses. Involve regularly attending school meetings, engaging with teachers and administrators, and actively participating in school events by fostering open communication and collaboration.
