In my experience, this is a great way to learn, grow, and develop as an individual but there are two sides to feedback and coaching. On one side, you have the associate/employee, seeking this information from their direct leader or manager. While on the other side, the associates/employees direct leader or manager has the ability to identify coaching opportunities and provide feedback, even when it is not sought after. This will give insight to the associate they may not have considered prior and open more avenues for creative thinking and goal setting.
Keep them motivated, give them an opportunity to speak and to be listened and understood. To give a chance for learning and growth.

In my experience, many of the situations that arise are reoccurring with the exception of a few. Within our team we have informal conversations about situations that arise throughout the course of our duties and we share how we would have dealt with said situations. Our colleagues give feedback on how they would have dealt with similar situations. In the end it helps us to combine ideas on the best ways to deal with situations that we will no doubt encounter while fostering a healthy work environment. It also brings the team closer together.

Brands who have been around for decades have built a special relationship with their customers who continue to come back year after year. Never ask a question where the answer can be “yes” or “no”. Instead of, “are you shopping for anything special” say “what do you have coming up this weekend?” Engage with her through open ended questions and when you break away, tell her your name and ask for hers. Address her by name in the store and the fitting room and at the cash wrap. Give her a personalized, warm experience that will make her feel special!
Engaging with your customers with an open mind to listen and learn from them, while trying new ways to meet their needs, is a good way to retain & connect with them. Customers are more looking for an experienced and customized journey where they feel they can connect with the brand
One thing I've found to connect with customers is greet them in a friendly way and ask them how their day is going. It is a small but great way to connect personally and gives insight on how to proceed from there in helping them get what they are looking for.

You can learn and grow by reading books, blogs, or magazines, taking online courses or webinars, attending workshops or seminars, or joining professional networks or communities.
As a leader one of my best practices is to learn more about each individuals goals and career journey plans. I can then develop them in specific skills that will not only benefit our store and team, but most importantly, that individuals growth on to their next career path. I have worked with many students and/ or individuals who are temporary in retail. Yet retail is a great stepping stone for developing an array of transferable skills.
Take full advantage of training programs your work may offer. Job shadow your Boss one day, that’s another great to learn and gain new skill set.
The only way our Associates can build trust and credibility with their Customers is by understanding the product and confidently styling her so that she too feels confident and beautiful in every way! That’s why I’m so passionate about developing training materials that are easily accessible as well as challenging them to learn on their own by trying on the product, touching and feeling it, styling it, etc.

By having fun and enjoying your work, you can reduce stress, increase energy, and improve morale. You can have fun and enjoy your work by creating a friendly and supportive work environment, participating in team-building activities or contests, rewarding yourself and others for a job well done, or finding meaning and purpose in your work.
This is my primary passion and function in life. All i ever think about is how to increase engagement and retention of information. Associates have such little "free" time so when they do have it, they have to want to learn. I'll hide secret contests in content. Give them challenging activities to get them to interact with the products to make them the advocates. Not everything can be designed that way. But when you can deliver dynamic, engaging content it carries a lot further. Adding tools to their toolbox that they can use to drive customer experience drives greater confidence in themselves too.

A mon sens le plus important est de détecter la source de motivation de chaque collaborateur. Nous ne sommes pas tous attirés par les mêmes intérêts. Une fois que cela est fait, chaque individu doit trouver un sens à son travail. En découlera naturellement de l’engagement????
In Retail one cannot be idle, employees can always be engaged in some or other tasks. Top priority is customer engagement and if there are no customers, employees can be engaged in the following tasks. 1. Assortment & Segregation of product & Categories. 2.Merchandising & Beautification of stores. 3.Store inventory check and out of order reordering. 4. Training amongst employees. 5. Sales & KPI report analysis of store performance. 6. Follow up with regular or potential customers. 7. Enhancement of product knowledge.

Just remain easy going in life and focus on your mental health too. Don’t over-stress your capabilities just because of fitting in into the sales environment. Just add your flavour to your environment. No one in India teaches you this skill.
