Adopting a rewards and recognition culture makes a great impact in remote collaboration. I follow the following methods to connect with cross functional teams for remote collaboration. 1. Setting up daily scrum to stay up to date and keep the expectations clear 2. Connecting biweekly with remote teams to understand their concerns. Building relationships comes with empathy. 3. Using MS Teams, Skype, email and phone call as a tool to collaborate based on work urgency 4. Participating in monthly knowledge sharing sessions with the teams to keep up the mojo 5. Clear expectation backed by data or business impact like what is at stack or why we are doing this or why we are changing the course is what will connect every dots. Make sure everyone is communicated regularly on this with the source of truth.

Simple yet most challenging task for any product leader. So put effort on small things and let this take the leaps. Make sure you are clear on below: - Vision of product - Clear roadmap - Plan of action and time duration. - Make feel everyone responsible for their work. - Trust and transparency in the team is must. Make sure everything is available some where (Use a collaborative tool like confluence) and accessible to everyone.

There are so many tools to support remote working it is a case of l believe of identifying the right tools that will suit your team and what you are trying to achieve. If you work remotely, you want team cohesion to stay the same. Try these tips to build community among distributed product squads: ? Schedule virtual coffee chats for team bonding beyond work projects. ?? Organize remote activities like trivia, happy hours, or multiplayer games for fun social time. ??? Establish regular touchpoints for roadmap reviews, strategy sessions, and addressing concerns. ?? Use video conferencing to stay more personable and connected. ?? Gather in person annually, if possible, for quality face-to-face time. ?? Encourage ongoing chatter on team chat channels. There are many creative ways to build rapport and relationships.

I cannot express the importance of this enough. By taking the first few minutes of every call to learn about the team member you’re talking to, setting regular 1:1 meetings, and having regular checkin intervals, you can set a rapport. The important thing here is in creating separation from the work — focus these times on feelings around work and even family and life. This is a small piece of rapport creating. Setting an example will be the next step to this and also volunteering information. Normalize the humanity of work keeps in from becoming purely transactional.

Transferring the praise from any direction, be it sales, be it customers to the team or team member involved to make it a success builds huge trust and never ever eat up credits, and whenever there is a failure like loss of new customer or churn you need to closely look at what went wrong as a team and face it together and come back stronger, you can always make new mistakes but not repeated ones.

Use retrospective wisely, Acknowledge everything and have plan of action. This is platform to share all experiences from last cycle. A retrospective is like a team meeting where they talk about how their work went. They discuss what went well, what could be better, and come up with plans to make their next projects even more awesome. It's a way for the team to learn and improve together!

Creating a retro meeting which will help to share acheived goals by each member, their obstacles, what did they learn in the previous project ... etc. sharing these ideas will prevent to fall in the same issued faced before and trying to get rid of them

To add what’s mentioned above it’s important to create an environment to feel comfortable to share the feedback. An environment where everyone feel comfortable to share constructive feedback and on the other hand to show the outcomes of the feedback: the resulting action or at least a conversation why certain things cannot be done and think together about the best alternative.

Picture feedback as the compass guiding your journey. In a remote landscape, seeking feedback is akin to checking your navigational instruments regularly. By actively seeking input, you ensure that you're not sailing blindly. This constant calibration helps you and your team stay on course, adapting to the ever-changing remote terrain.

Always ask your collegues for guidance if you need. Engage with them in solving problems, stategic thinking, ptential ideas ... etc. This will put all the team on the same page and align on the same idea. Remember, we won't stop learning, so don't be shy for any feedbacks!

Take regular breaks, keep talking to team in person whenever possible, and dont get sick of the work by working for 12-14hours a day, work will never end you have another world apart from work where you need to play your own part be it you are son, brother, sister, husband, wife, parent etc.

It took me a long time to learn this but it’s absolutely critical for success. As product people, we have to lead by example. I don’t expect anyone to show up if they are going through a really trying time, whether that be from loss of a loved one, health concerns, or just battling with something internally or externally. I would want what is best for them and to take care of themselves. When you let your team know you’re going to be out for XYZ reasons, or that you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or just feel off that day, then you give them permission to be *human* too. Vulnerability is the key to relationships.

To counter this, establish healthy boundaries, manage time and energy, and prioritize self-care. If there is a budget, a team get together in person once every quarter is a great way to bond and solidify relationships with your team. For the team members to be motivated to make the trip to the get together, the activities planned in the get together should be fun, exciting, engaging and different each time. Negotiate a decent budget with your department heads and leaders at the beginning of the year for 4 get togethers per year.
