In a negotiation, I like the strategy of trying "to speak from one mouth." Rather than everybody "chipping in" whenever they feel like it, appoint a lead spokesperson who has a grasp on all facets of the team's abilities. If the other side asks detailed questions, the leader can defer to the expert teammate for a response to those questions. Then the leader picks it back up. Finally, appoint one of your team to take detailed notes. What was presented, what was agreed upon by both sides, what loose ends need to be revisited, what are the unresolved issues that need mutual agreement, what questions do we have, what questions do they have, etc. Those notes are the homework that needs to be finished prior to the next meeting.

Totally agreed with this statement. In essence, this complies with the SMART approach where every team member will have his/her own specific, measurable, aligned, realistic and timely defined plans and goals, this will contribute to getting them widening their comfort zone by acquiring confidence through success in achieving and even through failure as the leader will be always monitoring and empowering but also this creates a diverse “ecosystem” within a same group that by nature makes this group more effective and impactful.

As much as being aligned with your team is Important, it is also crucial to understand that the entire team is representing the organisation. By the end of the day, the team should realise that the negotiation should benefit the company/client. Sometimes if there is a conflict of opinion between the team members, remember the purpose of negotiation in the first place. That will Solve the situation. Also irrespective of experience level, even if the junior most provides a valuable Input, accept it with open arms and appreciate!

All of the above are great points to consider, however you should prepare your team well in advance to these kind of situations,by creating the team's spirt among your team's members. Comprehension of objective In my career I came across project in Europe. I was member of team from 8 to deliver the project. The 8 were diversified like no elsewhere. Age bracket from 25 to 55. Females and males. 5 different languages. 4 different nationalities. Education level from Bsc to PHD. We had 4 working weeks to deliver the project. We spent the first week on comprehension of understanding to the problematic and expected deliverables required to make the project happens. Second week we distributed the work load based on the strength of each one or combination of 2or3 to work as sub group for certain task. 3rd week we excelled as group in terms of commitment, efficiency and quality of deliverables. 4th week mission accomplished.
