I use GIS to first identify and map wetlands using remote sensing and data integration, especially when dealing with large area with challenging terrain. First, use satellite imagery to detect water and vegetation. Then, analyze data to define wetland boundaries. By conducting field surveys, you will find the accuracy. Use topography and water flow models to refine maps. It gives you useful details to assess and delineate wetlands and the catchment.

GIS provides various industries to be able to conduct their business that may have had a much larger negative impact on wetlands, without doing so. GIS allows business decision makers to asses and evaluate a variety of options and decide the path that provides a better environmental outcome. This also enables them to be able to report and share information to their clients and stakeholders and provide environmental transparency.
