Engineers acquire foundational knowledge in university classrooms. If unavailable, they can pursue learning through online and face-to-face certifications. However, for specific software, one must refer to software developer manuals and datasheets.

Engineering plays an essential role in Industry 4.0 by enabling the creation of advanced products and systems that drive industrial transformation. As engineers, we must embrace emerging technologies and adapt our approaches to make the most of Industry 4.0. Some tools I had to learn were python, AI, PLC, Design

One thing ive found helpful in learning something.. Thou shall have interest in the part of skill that he really want to study. He has the initiative to start it .

Beginning with small Steps, like attending workshops and various online courses related to Al, Python, Scada, and machine learning.Gain practical experience through hands-on training, then progress to a higher level of expertise by Specializing in the field and actively participating, sharing ideas with leading experts and striving for continuous improvement and practical experience acquisition

The order that worked for me was 1.- Learn to program in Python 2.- Learn AI, machine learning 3.- Electrical control 4.- PLC

This may be a surprise to some (joking) but engineering and automation go hand in hand. Prior to leaving the Navy I had never done anything with automation but that was the first job I got when I retired. If you already have the engineering mindset you just need someone to show you the basics, assuming you're like me and learn by doing. Once you know the systems you'll be working with you can pick up processes and procedures quickly and it's the programming that threw me off. Automation is more computers now than mechanics so starting with some basic ladder logic in a PLC is a great starting place. Once you separate the ladder logic from an electrical diagram it will start to flow and the rest will follow.
