Just by being humble and teachable irrespective of their position and qualifications. One of the most important quality for anybody is " Be Teachable ". Also we must be on a learning curve through reading books, listening to podcasts and attending on webinars on our niche on a regular basis.

Learning can happen in multiple ways and an immersive learning is always the best. If we have a like-minded group of professionals working on their learning goals, that will be a good start.

I also like to think of mentoring in an experiential way considering knowledge and experience rather than hierarchical. Heirachy is a poor indicator of suitability as a mentor and so while it may be 'traditional', I think team mentoring or similar offers access to more diverse mentors.
