What helps establish critical thinking habits is trying to embrace a "newbie mindset" when approaching any topic or task - that is, trying to view it with the energy and enthusiasm typical to someone completely unbiased; rather than with the merit of someone with prior knowledge or experience. This greatly helps with seeking, embracing and neutrally taking into consideration different points of view, opinions, motivations, forms of communication, sources, etc. This also helps with sources and facts checking from multiple viewpoints without prior assumptions. One advice for further improvement: become aware of your own confirmation bias and try to consciously tackle it.

The cornerstone of all education should be about growing in one's knowledge in my thinking. All of the classic questions of: who; what; when; where and how should be evaluated under your why. As an undergraduate student, I came to realized fairly early on, that there where various why's, in fact almost as many as there where students. Many of my friends who were in the business school used to taunt me, asking me frequently what was I going to do with my liberal arts degree, which was philosophy with a concentration in psychology; I retorted-the same thing you are, look for a job! Critical thinking skills always begins with self-awareness including both self-knowledge and mindfulness. For all those that seek, may you find what you think!
