1 What is circular economy?

The space revolves around sustainability and it is implemented in many different aspects of its daily life: - the way it was built, using natural materials that can be dismantled if they ever leave the space. - their edible garden from which Chefs harvest to cook community lunches. - their programming, focused on educating their extended community to sustainability. The work Nest City Lab put into building such a space got them recognized through the LEED Platinium certification, which is the most widely used green building rating system worldwide.

For instance, by prioritizing local suppliers and makers through sustainable practices, they enhance community resilience and uniqueness, also mitigating the homogenization brought by global coworking franchises (e.g., non-local supply chains, material choices, etc.), which is still a reality in many places. Therefore, I see a potential to collectively transform these (often intuitive) actions into a structured practice. Ultimately, it will strengthen the perception not of the coworking space but the place as a whole (whether a neighbourhood, rural setting, city, etc.).
