Hay herramientas tecnológicas que nos permiten trabajar de manera sincrónica. Priorizar las sincrónicas por sobre la asincrónicas es una manera de apelar a la integridad de los participantes por el hecho de manejar una instantaneidad que evita situaciones de copia y plagio. Es una opción. Otra siempre constante debiera ser el hacerles ver lo que ponen en juego hablando de su integridad y del respeto que merecen como personas al trabajar en el respeto por la clase y la dinámica. Integrity is a profound concept and is internally located in one's character. It cannot be seen nor one can be trained for having integrity. Rest everything like defining expectation and ethical use of technology etc. can only facilitate one to display the utmost integrity but it cannot define an individual's integrity completely.

When we all went online a few years ago, it was a big adjustment for everyone. And a big part of it for me, having taught for years primarily in person, was in adjusting my approach to testing and assessment. I believe there is a place for closed-book tests, and of course when I employed them in my courses they tended to be a little easier than open-book tests. The expectations are naturally a little higher for open-book tests. From an academic integrity standpoint, one thing I did when moving everything on-line was just acknowledge that students would all effectively be open-book; if I specified closed-book, the only students who actually followed it would be at a disadvantage. So I just specified open-book for all my tests and quizzes.
