How are algorithms used to improve machine translation accuracy?

Rule based machine translation system can be designed using two techniques 1) Example based machine translation(EBMT) - In EBMT, translation is driven by the analogy. In EBMT, we analyze the differences between the source and target language. After analysis, source language text is divided into different phrases or chunks. We identify best possible translation for phrase or segment. 2)Translation using Synchronous grammar- We can create synchronous grammar where source language grammar is used for parsing source sentence. After parsing the source sentence, target language grammar is used for re-ordering. In re-ordering we change the order of nodes in sub-tree. Then final sentence is generated from the reordered tree.

E.g. they can learn Synchronized context free grammar(SCFG) or variant of the SCFG grammar. 2) Rule based methods- We can modify the SCFG grammar and use source language CFG grammar for parsing the source lang sentence. The target lang grammar is used for preforming reordering operations. 3)Neural network:- ANN can be used for decoding and generating translated sentence. It can use word embedding and language models for sentence generation.

Hybrid systems can be used to filter out noise and methods like PCA can help refine inputs to machine learning models. Combination works best in real world applications
