In my experience rejection equals redirection. The fact that it didn’t work out simply means that: a) You need to extend your skills in that area b) You maybe thought you wanted that position/responsibility but sabotaged yourself on a subconscious level c) You probably have some other personal/ professional qualities that are better suited for another role/ set of responsibilities where you would be a better fit Any of these or a combination could be applicable in any situation. As a professional you have to distance yourself from the feeling of rejection and rethink your goals. Having a mentor, providing a 3rd party perspective is also quite important to help you decide on your future steps.
