Here's how you can use logical reasoning to craft captivating narratives.

The most essential skills I learned from my first manager was communicating with customers and organizing different areas on and off the sales floor. As my career in retail continued, I recognized that many companies and corporations strive to be different. This can be both positive and negative to all levels. Adapting to new forms of managing can be exhilarating and sometimes daunting.

There are four key cornerstones for building solid story-foundation: 1. The Protagonist: The main character with a passionate goal. 2. The Antagonist: The strongest opposition —whether it's a character, the world of the story, or the protagonist themselves. 3. The World of the Story: The setting—opposed, supportive (with varying grades) or unresponsive. 4. The Storyteller's Perspective: What the storyteller wants the story to be, and what she/he aims to achieve with it. In summary, the four logical foundation elements with which the narrative will grow are: 1. The Protagonist, 2. The Antagonist, 3. The World of the Story, and 4. The Storyteller.

In addition to setting the foundation, one should establish the 'seed' of the story. The seed go can be anything! It can be a character, a name, a situation, structure, overheard dialogue, a setting, a theme, even a vague feeling. Better if you can define the seed in a single word or maybe phrases but remember, less is more. And this will give you clarity to penetrate deeper into your idea!

As John mentioned, a well crafted narrative should feel like a seamless dream, where the audience stays fully immersed! Well said, but what allows you to craft a dreamy seamless narrative? CONFLICT! Remember, without conflict there is no drama and thus, no story. Keep your conflict in place and then support it by the right amount of evidence. This will ensure that you keep your story interesting and logical without breaking the viewer's immersive experience.

The audience knows they will be guided by the narrator, willingly entrusting themselves with the expectation of a captivating and uninterrupted experience. The narrator must skillfully control what the audience are allowed and not allowed to see, hear, care about, hope for, and fear. If the audience starts questioning these elements, the narrator has failed. The art of narration lies in making the narrator's manipulation appear natural and effortless, understanding and anticipating the audience’s potential questions. Here, the best advantage of the narrator is that the audience is her/his friend, they want what the narrator wants, they really want to believe the narrator, and want to be manipulated.

Remember, 'Curiosity kills the cat! and also the creativity. The best way of to build a narrative is by following the 'Less is More' philosophy. Serving everything to the audience will overfeed their brain and end their hunger for the story. Keep your writing tight! And leave some space for the audience to wonder.

The audience's emotional connection to a narrative doesn't depend on liking or admiring the main character or the narrative content, style or tone being completely new. What really keeps the audience emotionally engaged is understanding. Comprehensibility leads to emotional attachment. A narrative where the audience understands the characters and their decisions, sees unexpected events as natural parts of the story's world, and experiences unpredictable yet unforced twists will capture their attention. A passionate character striving for a challenging goal further enhances this connection. When the audience stays emotionally involved from beginning to end, the narrative has genuinely touched them.

I feel relatability is what allows people to connect emotionally. Yes, you need to balance logic & emotion but emotion solely lies on being able to make the audience 'feel' something or 'move' something inside them. Any piece of work that has left a mark on the minds of the viewer had something that impacted the audience in a certain way. It could be negative or positive, but the impact lasted. And for the impact to last, 'relatability' is the key!

Make sure your transition is smooth and your story is progressing forward. Do not keep going in the same circle as that will bore the audience. Use logic here, more than anywhere else.
