I believe that participating in workshops, seminars, and industry conferences can help you network with other professionals and potential clients. Expanding your skills is a powerful way to grow your practice. You might study a method that appeals to your particular niche or target audience. When I was a dating coach, I had also studied Feng Shui and manifesting - Law of Attraction. Plus, I was also a copywriter. These additional skills allowed me to help my clients looking for love by writing their online dating profile, helping them set up a love corner, and learn how to use Law of Attraction to manifest the right partner. This was all complimentary to the traditional coaching methods. As a result, I offered a much wider range of services to help my clients find the love they wanted. When you expand your tool box, you can build your practice and offer more related services.

Coaching is a constantly evolving field because humans are constantly evolving. If you intend to be the best for your clients, investment in yourself, your skills and your education is the most important thing. No year should go by where you have not invested significantly in upskilling. No day should go by where you have not learnt anything new. Learn, relearn, unlearn, learn, relearn. The cycle should continue. The show must go on.

While professional coaching is (for now) unlicensed, you have the option to go the ICF (International Coaching Federation) route which is the international governing body for the ethics of professional coaching that offers the closest certification that you can get without a license. This allows you to enter certain spaces that require an ACC at a minimum. If not this route, I strongly recommend you pursue an accredited (by the ICF) coaching certification to understand the guardrails of professional coaching to set you apart and to build the foundation for your unique brilliance.

Having a collection of certifications may look impressive on a resume, but what truly sets your successful coaching business apart is the genuine satisfaction of your clients. Testimonials from happy customers carry far more weight than any piece of paper. Over the years I have witnessed the detrimental effects of coaches who prioritize their own agendas over the needs of their clients, despite their certifications. Personal authenticity and integrity are the key components that can elevate any certification to a level of mastery. By truly listening to and serving the needs of others, you can create a business that not only excels on paper but also in the hearts and minds of those you serve.

Taking classes to expand your knowledge base and offerings has so many other benefits like meeting new people with similar interests, making new connections, and finding colleagues to collaborate with. Continuing education delivers opportunities far beyond the learning that is provided. Continuing education can also inspire you, give you fresh insights, and and spark new ideas for how you work with clients or market your services.

I'm not big on trendy methods. However, it's important to know what your prospetive clients want. Sometimes knowing the latest thing can help you land new clients, as you keep up with what is happening in your chosen specialty or niche. it's hard to argue with the buzz of what's hot right now, especially if it actually produces the results your clients are seeking.

To successfully help a client, they must be open to change and willing to try new things. As a coach, we should have the same expectation of ourselves: to learn, grow, and try new things. Continuing education is an important part of staying skilled as a coach. Some new approaches may ultimately NOT be relevant to you or your clients. You may decide not to implement them. But staying current by continuing your coaching education keeps you exposed to new concepts and keeps you fresh as a coach.

Life coaching is constantly changing,. It's important to stay updated on the trends and research. Keeping up with education ensures that your coaching methods remain current and impactful. Clients seek coaches who're knowledgeable and can provide them with the recent tools and strategies, for self improvement. By staying informed about the advancements you can appeal to clients who appreciate coaching approaches.

Offering workshops is how I got my coaching practice started. I offered classes through continuing education programs through the towns around me and the local community college. This got my programs and name in front of thousands of households that would have cost a fortune if I paid for the advertising. But it was all a bonus of offering these classes. I did get clients from teaching these classes. But I also got clients from people who saw my name in the brochure or online, but never took the class! In addition, the media contacted me about some of my unusual classes and interviewed me on the radio and TV. Being part of the continuing/adult education in surrounding towns can provide wonderful exposure for your coaching business.
