One of the practical tips for developing empathy towards the user is to actually create a persona board with the actual picture of the user you or your team would have spoken to, add other details such as his interests, hobbies, pains etc and paste that card right in front of your desk. This is for you and your team to see everyday and whenever you're designing something just look at the picture and ask your self if this feature or product will help him/her and will he/she be able to use this feature.
