PM has to define acceptance criteria of what makes a good MVP, define step plans towards it and contingency plan to tackle unfavourable events and derisking towards favourable outcomes.

I've learnt it the hard way- Fall in love eith the problem and not the solution. One problem can have multiple solutions ranging from the simplest to the most exciting and innovative ones. As a PM, we want to solve quickly and efficiently for the customers. So while choosing the best solution, remember that it should be the best fit for the customers and your business.

Here’s how to truly stand out in a product manager interview: Be unapologetically customer-obsessed. Skip the usual fluff and dive into how you’ve turned unfiltered customer insights into meaningful business outcomes. Make it clear that you don’t just listen to customers, you are able to empathise with them, and give them what they need before they know it themselves.

Be obsessed with value. What will make our current and future customers say statements such as - "That's extremely smart; that just helped us complete in a matter of a couple of hours what used to take at least a week and, in some cases, multiple iterations!" "I wish you could also help us with X because now that Y is solved, we are looking at how further we can go with your product and drastically improve our current workflows!" Remember, it's our innovation that sets the standard. What we create today will soon become the norm, a given, a foundation for the next version of our product. We need to keep up with the Market, Customer and Engineering! That's what it boils down to - An obsession with creating value in whatever way we can!

A good product manager advocates for the customer, but a great product manager strikes a balance between creating customer value and meeting business needs. Ideally, these goals align perfectly, but when they don't, it's necessary to step back and realign with the long-term vision. In interviews, share an experience where you balanced these aspects.

This is indispensable for a Product Manager, especially in industrial automation and manufacturing. Walkthrough your thinking process while solving a case. - Copy problem statement & highlight important points - Ask counter questions about demographics, prior state of product, types of user, etc - Ask permission to see the product for a minute - Make existing user journey and keep talking until you complete the journey with all use cases (top 2/3) - Find gaps, and reason them - Finally propose solutions, link them to gaps you found - If time allows, put them in your user flow - Define impact your solution creates and how you will measure it? Note: Take time initially (~2 mins) to think of flow, gap and solutions. Talk while you are putting it down in a doc (I prefer FigJam) so the interviewer understands your problem solving process

Few of the generic attributes to consider for a good interview are : 1. Maintain a structured and logically linked approach to problem-solving, estimation, guesstimate kind of questions 2. For 'Tell me about a time.....' type of questions, a prior pondering is necessary for each category - Successful, Partially successful, Partiallly failed, Disaster examples from your work experience. It's very difficult to come up with a decent answer on the fly. 3. For behavior questions about difficult colleagues, difficult boss etc... , follow the thumb rule of being poised, dignified, logical and professional. Even though human beings sometimes give in to emotional outbursts, you don't want to talk about such things in an interview.

Memory Palace, mentally walk through your experience and learnings and iterate a flow on what all you know. Consolidate your experience while building the product, like ideating, validating, performing user research, creating user personas, creating PRD, working with stake holders, performing releases, measuring metrices and reflecting the outcomes and have a story for each of the aspect ( or whatever your familiar with)

4. Have an outsider's view of the current role, company, market outlook, financial history and projections, and competitive analysis. They are not going to hire you for the glorious past laurels. 5. Be on the right side of ethics at all times. Never have the temptation to showcase how you achieved your goal by manipulating people, utilizing loopholes, bypassing processes, and partial truth (which means partial lies). Even if it means losing out on the opportunity. 6. Never show desperation. There are a lot of external factors why You might not get the role. ?Being Poised, dignified, Patient and truthful is the key. 7. If interviewer asks your greatest strengths, weakness etc., it means Interviewer is a novice and unprepared, not You.
