It is important to know the core methodologies of a field on industrial level, not just textbook level. Run queries, document the test cases and test results, and present them using the processes used in Testing industry.

Quality Assurance is found everywhere, regardless of the industry. The most important thing is understanding the basics of Quality with its core tools. The tools can be applied in different industries with the difference being the nature of the industry and how Quality Assurance is defined. There are also online sites that can equip one with the definition of Quality Assurance and how it can be executed in different industries. Lastly, build a network with people in the quality assurance field and get to the definition and application of Quality Assurance in their organization.

Switching from other field to QA is not so easy. In depth Knowledge of Quality Control and Quality management system is prime requirement to lead and establish QMS. Understanding the manufacturing operations and improvement in day to day functionality plays vital role to drive and lead. It is always challenging but upgradation is also important so learn from each step and move to achieve the goal.
