Let’s start from the 3 pillars of public speaking - The Content, The Voice and the Body. Which of these are you more aligned to? And even within each category, there are various contexts that you may be an expert on. Which are you? Having a niche will help you to stand above your competitors and also help you to have sharper focus on areas you want to further develop. While you may be a Jack of all trades in public speaking, it would be beneficial to at least be a master of one on top of that.

I advocate to follow the fours “personas” of writing: the mad one (who collects and brainstorms pieces of information you want to share, then the architect (who structure in a bullet point outline what is the core of your speech and leave on the side anything not directly relevant), the carpenter (who fleshes out the content and build the slides) and lastly the judge (who review and trim down even more your content to make sure the ideas shines, who is relentless about it, blind and impervious to emotions).

Connecting online to people who post content related to the skills you want to develop is a very good way to not only learn new skills but also enter a network of like-minded individuals.
