Embracing learning in general or continual learning in particular is definitely a sound strategy not only for educators and other professionals, but more importantly for practicing managers and leaders. Think of learning from life experiences which all people go through. Life experiences result in the acquisition of learning how learn or as Professor Peter B. Vaill of George Washington Universityat the time (1996) labeled as “Learning As A Way Of Being”. I recommend his book under the aforementioned title as a must read to those interested in this content area.

I can draw example for this from my stint at Bain. When I was moved to a new team called consumer products benchmarking, I hardly could help much with indusrty level expertise as much of my previous stint was functional - which made me feel - I may not be able to lead any projects effectively. Instead I decided to start as a contributor on my first project to get the team trust me. Even in my next project I was not an expert, but my willingness to spend extended time with the team to understand their challenges and brainstorm a solution helped. The team was more receptive to my leadership because of my willingness to learn. My transferrable skills on excellent slide designing helped me trade it with industry knowledge with other leads :)

While I really enjoy being a leader (most of the time at least ??), sometimes it‘s pretty lonely. Seeking guidance is crucial for me to navigate through uncertainty and all the challenges around. Depending on the situation I can seek guidance from different people: ?? a coach is helping me to find the answers myself by asking the right questions or providing tools ?? a mentor can share with me how he/she handled similar situations in the past, where I can learn from ?? a confidant (for example one of your peers or someone from HR) can be used as sparring partner in unfiltered conversations and provide me with different perspectives

This clarity helps to reduce anxiety & ambiguity, allowing the team to remain focused on delivering exceptional client support even amidst change. Regular check-ins & progress reviews are crucial. They help in adjusting goals as needed & provide opportunities to celebrate milestones, which boosts morale & motivation!

It is the cornerstone of leadership, as it enables leaders to guide, motivate, and create an environment where everyone can contribute to the success of the organization.

Regularly connect with your team to address their concerns, answer questions, and share updates on progress. The single best reason for a leader to project positivity is that optimism is not only a mindset but also a form of behavior that influences everything we do. It's self-fulfilling and contagious. As an executive coach, I've observed that the optimist in the room often has more influence than anyone else. People are naturally drawn to optimism and are more likely to gravitate toward it. This positive influence is more attractive and effective than pessimism, as it can inspire and motivate others, create a supportive and productive work environment, and ultimately lead to better outcomes for the leader and their team.

Leverage appreciative inquiry to have dialog about positive aspects and the future. Bring respect in listening to different voices and opinions to create a safe space. Be ready to deal with emotions. Do not be afraid of venting them, opening the pandora box. You can always close the box by bringing positivity afterwards.

Or maybe project your feelings... When you feel down tell people that you feel down don't just act positive... Many people can see through the act so please share how you feel and ask people how they feel not just a "how are you today?" question

holding people together, focused and committed can be one of the biggest challenges in uncertain times. Clear, timely and regular, and honest communication plays a pivotal role. Leaders job becomes to keep everyone aligned to the big goals and leading through smaller milestones. celebrate the successes and reaffirm people's committment to the goals . A visionary leader who keeps the vision alive for himself and strengthens people's emotional investment in the Vision will succeed and win, through the most difficult times. my 2 cents !

Uncertain times need us to be even more grounded than ever. If you are a leader you need to be humbler than ever and surround yourself with people smarter than you. Work with them, don't compete! Support them in achieving their goals and dreams and they will do wonders for you. Praise people when they do good things and even more frequently in crisis

Focus on the things that are not uncertain and the things that are within your control or capacity to influence. No environment is total chaos, despite how it might seem at the time. Look for the anchor points from which to steady your ship.

You can always enhance your leadership confidence in the face of ambiguity and uncertainty by doing the following. 1. Focus your positive energy on taking care of your people and your organizational business objectives. Take good care of your people by staying close to them and listening to their feedback and supporting them in what they need to accomplish their mission. Keep in mind their wellbeing and hold them accountable. When you take care of your people, they will excel in their performance. 2. Adopt a leadership style that inspires and empowers your people and always maintain an open, clear, and consistent communication approach. 3. Remember that your strength and confidence depends heavily on your relationship with your people.
