Some thoughts I want to share are - 1. System Architecture is a very broad topic. If the area isn't aligned to your immediate career objectives, whatever you learn will be superficial and will disappear soon. As an example, if digital video compression (H.264/HEVC/AVC etc) is your current career focus, learning system architecture of docker containers may not be very relevant, but learning how video streaming platforms such as Netflix are architected could be very relevant. Choose wisely 2. In today's world online courses is always the first choice for learning. But your experience may very - some courses are extremely good, some are quite shallow. So, once again, choose wisely. Choose one that provides hands-on learning opportunity.

Just a casual but genuine conversation would do wonders to collective knowlege of every one involved.

There's a concept of re-inforced learning, try to do same thing multiple times. It does not mean solving the same problem twice. It means solving the problem once in your head. And then solving the problem with an actual system/on field. This way you learn more due to re-inforcement. e.g. When you read a technical blog, solve the same issue in you head. And then try to get your hands dirty. Thus you did it twice. And learned more. Or reverse. You have tried something, seems to work. Good, you did it once. Now document it in a manner that some one else benifits from you. Now you have done it second time. This re-inforced learning would improve your leanring capabilities and experise.

And learned more. --- There's a philisophy, if ain't broken, don't fix it. But there's another perspecitive. Even on an existing system, try to tweak it, re-architecture it. You will remain hands-on and may be do something better. If it breaks, you can always roll back!!!

With today's tremendous amount of public information, there are a few guidelines to follow: - Define 2 separate time budgets for your learning experiences, and general information. They need to be balanced to ensure quality learning, while keeping your mind open to new trends. - Subscribe to 1 or 2 news feeds to learn bout the market. With more, you may get redundant articles and exceed your budget. - Subscribe to 1 or 2 courses at a time: don't be greedy, or you will loose focus and efficiency. And don't drop until you finish the course. - Be open to new technologies, as they may become your next job.
