As per my understanding, there are 5 mantras : 1) Start brushing up on your core skills . i.e your strength. 2) Start learning newer technologies matching your fields , i.e. being top competitor. 3) Do some certification to be shown as top among others. 4) Immediately start applying to all the relevant jobs, as it may take sometime to get noticed by employers. 5) Start giving interviews in your relevant domain, to be job ready.

During my current layoff, I have been dedicated to identifying and addressing skill gaps by analyzing computer science job descriptions and enrolling in online courses to align my skill set with in-demand competencies. Platforms like Coursera and Udemy provide excellent courses at reasonable prices. For those concerned about costs, there are numerous free resources available on platforms such as edX, Khan Academy, Codecademy, and MIT OpenCourseWare.

linkedIn is a good way of staying up to date about the latest. Follow people who share tech news and spend sometimes going through a few comments. Hearing other's thoughts will give you more perspective and helps you gradually develop your own point of view.

Read Technical Blogs and Journals Following technical blogs, journals, and forums is a good way to stay informed about the latest developments in the field. Websites like Medium, TechCrunch, and ArXiv publish articles on cutting-edge technologies and research.

Keeping up with your peers and the experts' blogs is a great way to keep current. I enjoy having a news reader subscribed to smaller sites' RSS feeds, so that I get a focused, curated view of the tech I keep up with.

Reading research papers, although sometimes dense, can provide deep insights into cutting-edge technologies and theoretical advancements. With that I personally stay active on Reddit, Quora and LinkedIn to participate in interested topics and learn a lot from other discussion.

I developed a mobile app using AI to recommend books, which showcased my technical skills and innovation. This project was a key talking point in job interviews, demonstrating my problem-solving abilities.

A tech should always have a personal project running in the background. Push yourself and get your hands dirty. We all started building our first computer from scratch... mixing and matching and stubbing our toes along the way. But having a test environment, and learning environment has done more than just reading along.

For example, I dedicated time to experimenting with various machine learning algorithms using publicly available datasets. This hands-on practice allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of these techniques and their practical applications, which has been beneficial in both my studies and professional opportunities. As per me earning professional certification is one of the best way to keep yourself motivated towards the career path, during this down time if you’re earring 1 or 2 certifications that’s enough to get job in that particular field.

This might add to your credibility in your CV. It also reflects your level of curiosity and investment in a topic. but be aware that if it stays only at the cert level and on the surface, you won't be able to show it's value properly unless you actually get some projects done end to end.

Never stop learning. Even if you were layed off, learn a new skill. Earn a certification, Meditate and pray. Keep trying and you will end up landing on new role. Which will open new horizons for you.

Navigating remote work can be difficult. Working in a multi-state team can have challenges, from time zone differences to navigating communications on a virtual medium. I have noticed that information can easily be misinterpreted in meetings. This issue causes a domino effect of miscommunication to miss deadlines. The solution is to have a dedicated note summarizing the meeting's key points, tasks, and expectations. Lastly, make sure it is documented digitally, such as via email. Doing so will give you much clarity and ensure you are on track. In the case of confusion, you'll have notes you can reference to provide clarity to yourself and your team.
