Here's how you can stand out as a large group facilitation candidate by showcasing key skills and qualities.

Learn how to use your voice. How well are you projecting your voice - learn how to change that and practise. Think about modulation of voice and consciously vary it; lower your voice to get people to listen. Raise it to give emphasis. Ant, learn the power of silence. Not talking allows others to.

You can effectively do this in to three ways: 1. Preparing in advance by interviewing a few select members that represent a cross-section of the larger group will make a huge difference in your effectiveness and relevance to the group. 2. Asking for volunteers to participate and tell brief less than 1 minute stories that bring the points to life that matter. 3. Listening with your entire body to what is said and how it is said by the participants will make a lasting impression. When these are your three main drivers, you will bring meaning, relevance and life to your facilitation.

En la facilitación de grupos grandes siempre hay que facilitar una nivelación, tanto de los participantes como del facilitador. Y la mejor herramienta para hacerlo es el humor. No es necesario pararse a contar chistes, se pueden plantear ciertos tipos de preguntas, desde el inicio, que favorezcan la divergencia y eso espontáneamente hará surgir comentarios graciosos y risas de los participantes. Con esta nivelación, es mucho más fácil manejar las comunicaciones en el grupo, porque se ha establecido un cierto lenguaje en confianza.

I actively listen to all participants, ensuring everyone's voice is heard. I articulate concepts clearly, using visuals and analogies when needed. I summarize key points and action items concisely. My open body language and vocal variety engage the group. I flexibly adapt my communication style to diverse audiences.

There are several aspects that make you stand out: 1. Being authentic and passionate about your topic; 2. Considering and taking to account the audience you speak to; 3. Making people engaged in what you say - when you audience can envision or feel the emotion while your speaking, they will not remember your words but they for sure will remember what kept their imagination in that exact moment. This would be the talk that they will likely remember.

As a large group facilitator, aligning with your true purpose and speaking from your heart automatically makes you stand out. When you operate within your purpose, your passion and commitment shine through, creating genuine connections. Authenticity is magnetic; by being vulnerable and sharing your true self, you inspire trust and openness. Embracing your authentic self means leveraging your unique strengths and encouraging others to do the same, fostering empowerment. Operating from a place of purpose and authenticity transforms your facilitation and your life. Lead with your heart, stand in your truth, and let your soul's light shine brightly.

Hace a?os organicé un evento sobre innovación, al que llegaron más de 100 personas. Varias de estas personas eran importantes y serias, y esto podría bajar la energía del evento. Entonces partí con un video muy gracioso y pertinente, donde se hacían parodias de los problemas típicos de los emprendedores. Este tip lo resolvió todo, porque la gente estalló en risas, y además los senté a todos mezclados en mesas redondas, lo que ayudó a nivelar la presencia de los participantes. Es importante también enfocarnos en la "presencia" de los participantes, nivelarla, y no solo preocuparnos de la nuestra.

I project confidence and poise, even under pressure. My calm demeanor defuses tensions and inspires trust. I take charge when necessary, providing direction while remaining open to input. My enthusiasm is contagious, motivating the group towards goals. I demonstrate integrity through consistent words and actions.

Genuineness, authenticity and integrity would extend itself to the responsiveness of the participants. As connected we are to the purpose of the session so will we vibrate and thus, our participants would connect eventually to that resonance. Vibrate high, with the purpose and stay fully present in the moment.

My favorite large group facilitation experience required structure in the moment. As one of the few panelists who had arrived at an Out and Equal Conference in Baltimore before a hurricane put a pause on attendees and panelists arriving, I worked with the Out and Equal team to come up with impact workshops to replace the ones being lead by panelists who didn't make it. The attendees were not left disappointed. We kept sight of what people came to learn and delivered several unique and experimental workshops.

Cuando facilité un evento online sobre una problemática ambiental, participaron representantes de la sociedad civil, ambientalistas, empresas, gobierno, pueblos originarios y universidades. Teníamos un plan bien estructurado de exposiciones, que funcionó bien, y luego una ronda abierta de preguntas, que fue problemática. Dos personas comenzaron a interrumpir con mensajes de reivindicación, y como facilitador principal tuve que levantar mi tono de voz, dar un feedback asertivo y proceder a silenciar sus micrófonos. La situación se calmó rápidamente y estas dos personas siguieron presentes y participando de la actividad. Gracias a este buen manejo, el plan estratégico funcionó.

Estuve a cargo de un taller con todos los socios y directores de una corporación. En la etapa final del taller, un empresario importante se paró y comenzó a objetar el trabajo que se estaba realizando, argumentando que antes se había realizado lo mismo y sin resultados. Yo, sin haber estado involucrado en esas actividades del pasado, le hablé en público a este empresario, mientras él no paraba de hablar, y lo hice sin que pareciera una interrupción irrespetuosa, si no que lo devolví al presente y le dije que estábamos en el momento justo de poder cambiar las cosas. El empresario asintió y volvió a conectar con el trabajo que estábamos haciendo.

Recognise that outlier opinions may be held in less explicit ways by the whole group. The person who hasn’t spoken has a lot to say. A long pause usually means everyone is thinking.

Be present with each participant as if they are the only one. The ones who are most inhibited or distracted, through them each one can be facilitated easily. People like humanity in action and weaving is much easier when we are humane and inclusive in our practice.

There is no one right answer; you need a combination of skills, including the ability to be facile (the root word of facilitation!!). The ability to understand a large group from the very beginning, through a combination of a real-time needs assessment of the room (or prework the crowd if you can), and intentional engagement strategies aimed at the specifics of the group. Make your comments relevant to them, do not bring in "canned" wording and phrases. Most importantly, in my opinion, is to remember that you are there for them, they are not there for you. Always keeping that top of mind during the session will keep you focused on the end. Constant check-ins are also good, to ensure you are keeping them alert!

Know who you are addressing as an audience! Be agile, don’t assume you must address each one of your slides. Engage your audience from the very start! Know you can’t please everyone and can only do your best, so be prepared and confident.

Para destacar como candidato para facilitar en grupos grandes, hay que contar historias personales en que puedas demostrar que de verdad te gusta la gente. Por ejemplo experiencia en voluntariados, como coach de club deportivo, como comunicador en cualquier tipo de situación. Todo eso servirá mucho.
