Here's how you can spot and foster rising stars in your team.

??Rising stars have right mix of skills, grit and determination which can be easily spotted through their passion and enthusiasm towards their work.

It is necessary to hide those stars after the departure of the first row of leadership, because that leadership may have prepared others to replace those stars, which will form in the future of the organization a brilliant future that may threaten the existence of that leadership, and this only happens in an organization that lives within the atmosphere of a spider’s web full of conspiracies and intrigues.

Spotting and fostering rising stars in your team involves paying attention to those who consistently deliver high-quality work and show a willingness to take on new challenges. Provide opportunities for professional development and mentorship to nurture their talents. Recognize their achievements publicly and offer constructive feedback to help them grow. Encourage collaboration and give them leadership roles to build their skills.

To add on, most of these individuals do things through intrinsic motivation and without the need for validation but to keep their spirit high it is necessary to appreciate them and applaud them as they not only bring out the best in themselves but in their team too.

These people deserve the right kind of roles and responsibilities and professional development opportunities from time to time.

It's very important to have interactions at regular intervals not just before the increment cycle is round the corner. Such people take feedback positively and work on it.

As a leader know your team. Reach out to them. Talk to them. Spend time to know what's happening with them. Call out those who are doing a marvellous work. Keep it regular. Appreciate the specifics about what they are doing right. Highlight it. Encourage to share their good practices with others. A letter of appreciation would be a good way to show the appreciation. Do it publicly in an assembly may be.

As I described in my presentation on talent cultivation a leader recognizes a person and actively seeks to promote together in a sponsorship activity. You create opportunities by removing barriers and talking favorably about that person in others rooms.

One of my own personal quotes in leadership is “your greatest resources are your human resources” and celebrating and giving positive relevant affirmations to the people you lead and coach is important. Celebrating your people in small or great accomplishments ignites people that you lead as well as fosters trust.
