Here's how you can skyrocket your career as an Executive Coach through continuous education.

You shouldn't coach if you are not continuing to learn. Whilst it is important for coaches to come with lived experience and knowledge built up over time, the world doesn't stop moving forward. In order to stay relevant a coach must continue to develop their skills and broaden their perspective to be able to adjust their message to a new audience.

Many think of coaching as just passing on the knowledge you've gained in your life. But that's not nearly enough. The magic comes from the combination of new thinking with life and professional experience. Read. Read as a habit at the same time every day. Take notes - not just of the information but of your reaction to it. How has it confirmed or changed your thinking? Get curious about process, technology and the psychology of what you're doing. Then go out and put learning into practice. The proof of the value of your ideas only comes through delivery.

Networking widely is essential for any coach. It is not just about making potential contacts to become clients. It is about understanding the nature of other people's businesses, creating signposts for expertise outside of your own and bringing a wider perspective into your coaching.

One of the reasons I don't ever have back-to-back coaching clients is the need to continuously reflect on how the session went and to consider what additional learning and skills development I require. Purposefully, make time for reflective practice and keep notes, either in a journal or a diary, to articulate any learnings and remind yourself of any actions you may wish to take as a result.

Taking time to reflect is one of my favourite things..it is also one of the most difficult things for people to do these days as the pace of work means there is so much to do so quickly. However, it is essential to allow this time for reflection, to evaluate and adjust. If we don't do this we are not serving our clients properly. I also make time for conversations and thinking outside of business that challenge me. It allows me to bring something fresh into my client space.

To my mind the most important form of human intelligence is intrapersonal intelligence. Learn to speak to yourself first. If u can’t take responsibility for your own wrongs, who will? Being wrong, making mistakes and failing are experiences designed by your higher mind to drive your own growth. They are special experiences, designed for your evolution and ascension. So perhaps they are blessings in disguise? Why do we hate them ? Because the conscious mind is wired to avoid pain. But if we learn to go through it, rather than past it,the experience solidifies as growth..and catapults us to the next level of life. The msg is clear- Celebrate being wrong.
