Agree, it’s important to know what’s the baseline and acceptable policy by industry standards. When you know these, then you can create policies that will harden systems, but it starts from studying and familiarizing your knowledge with these industries standards and acceptable policies.

True, I learnt about playbooks and how much this can contribute to incident response. It’s important as security professional to prepare for incidents strategically and carry your team along, they can have ideas and innovations that will strengthen your playbooks making response efficient and recovery faster.

To keep track of new threats coming up,College/University's syllabus must embrace innovation in network security. Using machine learning and AI to bring an intelligent layer can significantly improve threat detection / response times resulting in pro-active defense mechanism. Furthermore, enabling zero trust architecture to ensure every access request is rigorously validated prevents any possible vulnerability. Staying informed on the latest technological advances, and constantly tweaking security policies is how network engineers can keep their organisations safe and prove that they deserve to be promoted.

There are innovations currently that add more layers of security to our infrastructures which must be taken advantage of, because that’s why they exist in the first place, using these tools will make our defense-in-depth strengthened and making the job more harder for adversaries.
