Usually during interviews, I always try to make them feel that they have something within themselves and that is why they have been chosen for the interview. Many a times I share incidents from my past when I have been on the other side of the table and facing things just like they have been facing at that moment.

Mention any initiatives you started that positively impacted the team. Share specific stories where your leadership led to positive improvements in team performance.

Interviewee can easily gauge interviewer on the following grounds: 1- Active listening 2- Empathy 3- Rewards & recognition 4- Communication 5- Adaptability

In an interview, showcasing your ability to motivate and inspire a team can be powerful by reflecting on past successes. I like to create role-playing scenarios in which candidates are asked to respond to specific challenging situations. This can help me observe their ability to handle emotional situations and respond empathetically.

When I'm interviewing folks for leadership skills, I love to hear how leaders try to continuously improve. I nearly always ask the same follow-up to my questions: "With the benefit of hindsight, what would you have done differently?" and folks who are willing to look back, reflect, and critique themselves show me that they will likely be able to continuously improve in their next role, too.
