The internship doesn't need to be with the top level businesses. It can be with local small scale business and that too without pay. Key is to bloom where we are planted. One opportunity leads to the next one and we gradually work our way to the top. The value of an opportunity is not just intrinsically determined by opportunity, but also how we treat it. If we don't appreciate what we have, we won't appreciate what we get.

Focus on the companies and potential internships that will enable you to gain experience and skillset in the area that you wish to pursue.

Relationships matter and need to be started and nurtured. Which takes curiosity, preparation and time. I use Andy Lopata’s ‘7 Stages of Professional Relationship’. It helps to understand where you are, and where you need to get to in order to build a professional relationship. - (I) you need to get to ‘trust’ level (4) to be able to do business. - (ii) it normally takes 7 hours in multiple locations to get to level (4) Stages: - (1) Recognise - (2) Know - (3) Like - (4) Trust - needs to get here to do business - (5) Supporter - if you need their help - (6) Advocate - don’t need your help - (7) Personal friend Good luck!

Only if you network extensively you will be able to find out opportunities and see if you can find those who are really in need for people and who are just starting out . your chances to get onboard is higher and even the probability to get a good Carrer as well

Not only does this allow you to amass a following that can lead to monetization. Not only can it help you find your first users. It also helps showcase your skills to the world.

Firstly please know.... entrepreneurship is hard, first 10 years will be a grind of long hours and minimal to no pay. For an entrepreneurial internship you need to put in the effort to make it happen. Choose the industry, identify the the most respected players, approach the staff and find out if they are good leaders and teachers (worth the extra effort). Once you have a shortlist and know why you want to be working with them, its time to setup the introduction. You will need to find opportunities to get to know their business and customers also. Above all a a perfect pitch should be genuine and not just buttering the company.??

Pitching or Selling yourself never works. You gotta be what the organisation needs. If the organisation wants you to be just passionate about learning. That's all. None of the skills you have will matter. The best practice is to understand the organisation, what they need, what you can do, find the common interest and make that as the point to put forward.

As an entrepreneur that has utilized interns in every company that I started, I understand both the value they bring as well as the responsibility we have to give them a great learning experience. The best interns I have met through my network of professionals or at events. Their followup says everything. If you are pursuing an internship, don’t be afraid to ask questions and even ask to “shadow” the Founder for part of a day. Most all entrepreneurs have a passion to tell their story and help grow others.

If you want something, you need to go and get it—there's no other way. However, it requires patience and listening. Sometimes, what you want isn't what you need, and listening can help you understand that. Following up demonstrates your interest and commitment.

It's a good practice to follow up for a confirmation. You never know if the recruiter had not selected you, but because you followed up, it shows an impression that this internship matters to you or you are serious about it. So the recruiter will have a higher chance to reconsider you. So always make sure to follow up even if you get no response. Just in case you receive a rejection mail, still reply to that asking for feedback. This also has a slight chance of reconsideration, just because it gives the impression that you are serious about it. For some organisations, they try to provide internships to the one who deserves the most, so you never know if it makes up for you for a clutch!

One conversation will lead to another and another…and then magic happens.

When you are developing something, experience is the one element that is always apparent at every level of your plan. It is usually beneficial to you in your entrepreneurial endeavors to have strong experience in one area, or even several. You are able to lead teams more effectively, work more, and follow a set plan for developing the product, among other things. At first, you can work for extended periods of time.

Early in my entrepreneurial journey, I noticed that attracting interns was challenging. Many gravitate towards larger, established companies. I started my career as an intern at a large company. After that, I became an embedded software engineer in a small company that became Brazil's banking automation leader years later. I learned much more in a small company than in a large one. In this environment, whether a startup or a small company, you will have an entire perspective on design, product development, financials, people, strategy, marketing, and sales. Everything is close to you, and this provides a remarkable learning. I advise internship candidates to be open to opportunities with new startups or small companies.

Startup centers. Most startups are in dire need of extra hands and often don't have the capital to do so. Find a startup that matches your vibe and offer a hand. Now, you have got yourself an internship and the opportunity to learn what it takes to run a startup. Not all startup will be winners in fact most aren't but you can still learn a lot during your time there.

Other things that have benefited me are - speaking with a powerful confident voice, you don’t get this naturally, you get this by being a pro in the problem or industry you’re working towards - always keep a learners mentality, what makes us the most valuable isn’t our skills, it’s our willingness to learn and adapt, this is crucial in a world that’s always changing - talk to people, there’s no harm in having simple conversations with people on LinkedIn, you’d be surprised how willing people are to help.
