You have to keep in mind that our environment is pretty dinamica and evolves quickly. Sometimes the volume of information you shall acquire is overwhelming and, in addition, the technology is always changing. It is impossible to stay up-to-date with all these aspects of our trade but you can adapt to each circumstance if you are open to changes. Don’t forget that a broad knowledge basis is essential to help you understand the new tendencies and to adapt to them.

For me, what is missing here, is the necessity to skill yourself as a multi-flexible people manager. As a FM Manager, you will have to interact/ communicate/work,... with your (technical) team, with suppliers, with the higher management of your organization, with other stakeholders/ co-workers, peers,... you constantly have to adapt your communication style, and for me, today that is an underrated skill. People Management skills should be higher on the agenda of the eduction paths. It's no longer all about having technical skills, it's also and more and more about interpersonal skills.

In my experience, is is barely impossible to acknowledge all de changes and new information you face nowadays, and the effort to absorb all of them is overwhelming and will faster lead you to exhaustion and heavy stress. Remember: you don’t have to know everything. Focus on the events that will directly affect your work in short term and, from them, you can expand your knowledge over the market.
