I recently encountered this where I was working constantly on an error for ~4 hours straight, only for someone else to point out that it is not an error, instead a feature. So yes, had I taken a break and started again with a fresh piece of mind, I could've been debugged way too earlier.

Standing up or walking every 30 minutes can help mitigate these effects. Try to focus your eyes on distant objects and count them or read something from afar to help your eyes relax in break time.

The modern electronic gadgets and apps trick our mind, we start believing that scrolling through the social media page is relaxation and often get used to it when we get some spare time. To solve a complex ML problem, it is very important for the brain to look at the problem as it is without any bias and prejudice. Doing some exercise, yoga asanas or brisk walk daily gives the body and brain the required Oxygen to be active. Being active is not the only thing, we need to declutter the thoughts in our brain as well. Practicing breathing exercises(Pranayama), meditations, mindfulness on regular basis gives clarity of thought to the brain which is very crucial to solve complex ML problems.

The level of digital distraction we see now a days was not there 30 years back. The brain is tricked over a period of time. It starts feeling that it is difficult to survive without a mobile device. I attended one program called Advanced Meditation Program from Art of Living. I kept myself away from Mobile, Electronic gadgets and anything that gives me information and observed silence for 3 days during the course of the program. It was an amazing experience. The tranquility and blissful state of mind I experienced after 3 days of meditation camp is something which I can not put it in words. It can only experienced. I feel it is very important to give the brain that much needed break which is very critical to be innovative in ML roles.
