I've started four companies. But I've had dozens of IDEAS for companies that I didn't start. I learned the hard way that it is much better to kill an idea early. There is only one question to ask about an idea: how would I know if I am WRONG? The idea stage is all about enthusiasm. It is easy to get carried away. It is much harder to find ways to validate that this idea is connected to a real problem. And, for a business, "real" = someone is paying money to solve it. Here is the easiest way to validate the idea. Talk to customers about how they're currently solving the problem. You'll learn that (1) they don't have the problem, (2) they have it but don't spend enough, or (3) they have it and spent A LOT. If (3) congratulations!

Let's be honest — if your idea doesn't address an actual market need, it's likely to fail. The statistics are harsh: 95% build what they want, ignoring market demands. Only 5% cater to real market needs. Always validate your ideas with potential paying customers: Conduct customer interviews. Identify your potential customer base. Understand: The severity of their problems. The consequences of not solving these problems. Aligning with market needs increases your chances of success. Find a problem around you because the more you experience the situation the more innovation you get. Then start from the idea you first get and find its pros and cons then make a new strategy according to your idea. Make new strategies until you find the plan better solution for your problem

Got an idea that's buzzing in your head? Awesome! Now, let's turn it into something real. Here's the thing: your first attempt doesn't have to be a masterpiece. Think of it like a rough draft! Grab some cheap, easy-to-find materials (think cardboard, Legos, even poster board!) and build a basic model that shows what your product does. This "prototype" can be physical or digital, whatever helps you interact with it and see if it works. The goal is to find any kinks early on, not win a design award. Complexity can wait – for now, focus on proving your core concept is solid!

Create a customer council that provides not just the opportunity for feedback but the opportunity to experience firsthand your company's product roadmap, meet the team, network with other customers, and provide discounts, promotions, and gifting experiences to not just obtain user feedback but to gain loyalty. When a customer does provide actionable feedback and a change is made to the product or service because of their experience, always highlight them and make them aware of the change and impact they personally made on the company. Do not treat your early customer council like numbers, know their names, important information about them and why they are passionate about supporting your business.

Feedback and your ability to cultivate & collect it, can make or break your product! Ask detailed questions and get detailed answers, this will translate to navigating complex qualities of the product. If you do not have a solution to the feedback, don't worry. Share the feedback with trusted agents or with your developers. Experienced developers are miracle workers.

I've launched more than five digital products to the market. The one that has had better results is to build a presentation on Canva or PowerPoint and go to your potential customer, show it, and listen.

Creating systems and processes for iterations can be very valuable. And in my experience, automating steps in iteration can be a game changer. 1. Identify components/steps where maximum feedback is expected, 2. Create a defined system to take this feedback seamlessly with quick and easy customization points eg-customizable dataset, customizable UI components, etc 3. Automate some or all of the steps in the process. This can maximize gains from feedbacks and corresponding iterations. Further it also lays foundation for customization layer for the product, which can be very beneficial at a later stages of sales and business development, often leading to strong product led sales.

Iterating is essential however, moving quickly may create unnecessary errors. This post is in reference to tech solutions - don't rush the product. Releasing a partial product quickly is less ideal than taking a moment longer to create a higher quality product. Prior to re-releasing it, use it as if you were the client. If you are not satisfied, your client may not be either. Your clients are your biggest asset, treat them well and give them a quality product. Always thank them for their feedback.

Review feedback, from users. Make adjustments, to your prototype promptly. This could include refining the design or features. Develop an iteration. Conduct further testing. The iterative process facilitates the efficient evolution of your product guaranteeing it aligns with market needs.

Determine the expenses involved in manufacturing your improved prototype at a volume taking into account materials, workforce and distribution. Assess whether the proposed selling price is reasonable. In case the expenses are excessive seek methods to decrease them without sacrificing quality to guarantee term viability.

So you've got this amazing product idea – that's awesome! But before you quit your day job, there's one crucial step: cost analysis. It's basically figuring out how much it'll cost to make your product in bulk. Think materials, factory workers (if applicable), getting it from point A to point B, and all that jazz. Why is this important? Because knowing your costs helps you set the right price and see if your product can actually turn a profit. If the numbers don't add up, you might need to find ways to bring them down (without sacrificing quality, of course!). A good cost analysis is like a financial compass, guiding you towards a sustainable business.

Market strategy should begin immediately upon realizing you have a product. Pre-launch or pre-orders are a great way to collect capital and to build anticipation. Email is still the best marketing tool, it's cost-effective and data suggests potential clients are more likely to read emails vs. taking unsolicited calls or texts. Collect emails as much as possible. ('Email Marketing Rules' is a great book to read!) When considering your market strategy, create 3-4 client profiles. Each client profile should have key lifestyle or personality characteristics that you can leverage in your targeted marketing strategy. Be as specific as you can - if you can solicit feedback from them on your product prior to launch, even better!

Craft a plan to connect with your desired audience. Determine the channels, like online platforms or retail outlets. Showcase the features of your product, in your marketing strategy. Think about running a campaign before the launch to create excitement and attract customers.

Consider the psychological aspect of innovation. The success of a new product often hinges on the founder's mindset. As Simon Sinek highlights in his book "Start With Why," understanding your purpose and staying motivated can drive you through the inevitable setbacks. Cultivate resilience and a growth mindset. Innovation is not just about the product but also about how you navigate the journey. Embrace failure as a learning opportunity and remain flexible, but also steadfast in your vision.
