I truly apologise if people don't like my advise, but I fully believe in the following: There is !!! NO !!! such thing like temporary or contractual product management. If a company is serious about managing its products it will create a robust environment in the organisation; if well planned (and I assumed this is more important in PM than in many other workplaces) there is no need for a contractor. Product managers need to 'breathe' the company spirit and personally owns / manage his piece. This can't come from temp workers. No offense to anyone and please don't mix up product- with project management; for the latter, temp employment might make sense.

Focus on Deliverables: With a limited timeframe, I prioritize features and projects with the biggest impact. Think "minimum viable product" on steroids.

Problem-Solve: Take the initiative to identify issues and come up with solutions. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Document and Share: Keep track of what you're doing and share that knowledge with the team. It'll make life easier for everyone when you move on.

While sharpening skills is required for every individual in this role , no matter what type of role it is . Contractual roles may involve expert guidance to deliver projects faster. Hence inclination could be more on getting things implemented using existing knowledge or expertise. Managers can upskill themselves from their previous learnings and additionally learn new approaches for faster delivery inclusive of various items like development, stakeholder management, testing, release prioritization which are important aspects of product delivery

Fact: people like to do business with people they know.

No matter how uncomfortable it gets at times, stay transparent with your stakeholders regarding feedbacks and expectations and communicate without hesitation for overall productivity and growth.
