First, you should determine your level and position on the technical proficiency ladder in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and your personal skills. Of course, you need to set your goal. If you cannot set a goal, your skills and proficiency might indicate the next step you should take. Example: If you work as a GIS specialist, and part of your job involves dealing with databases more than usual, and you find yourself capable of handling them, you can then take a course to improve that skill (databases) and aim to become a database Admin in the future. Remember that you cannot neglect personal skills such as communication skills, presentation skills, and respecting hierarchy.

For skill gain first main part is doing your masters in GIS. It may be MTech or MSC whichever feels you good. After your curriculum it is requto gain the software skills and problem solving skills to intact in industry. There are lot of course available for advance gis. Also ESRI provide some free and some paid courses specifically for ArcGIS products like webgis, arcgis enterprises, etc. It is required to keep updating yourself while growing with any company.

Join different forums, linkedin groups, whatsapp groups where multi domain gis experts and enthusiastic people come together and discuss gis related issues. It will be good to discuss your issues in such forum that you will get much wider aspect of your issue and quick solution as well. Also many new things will come to know. Attend most of GIS meets, reserch presentation meets to widen your network.

To transition from entry-level GIS roles to advanced positions, focus on mastering GIS software, programming (Python, JavaScript), and database management. Gain experience with project management, and stay updated on industry trends. Networking, obtaining relevant certifications, and showcasing your skills through complex projects will also help you advance in your GIS career.

There will be multiple solutions to the single problem, you can come forward and take initiative to solve it. Sometimes you may fail after taking initiative, thats fine.
