Here's how you can navigate job searching in the IT Strategy field.

I think beside the normal Business and Digital skillset, one need to be able to combine with other perspectives, e.g. from the social and human perspectives. My own biggest Enterprise Architecture inspiration comes from Jürgen Habermas, Bj?rk, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Torbj?rn Nilsson (a former Swedish football player). Not TOGAF. Not endless posts about some new shiny toy, or common sense dressed as deep insights.

Strategic skills are not built up over a year or two it takes a decade or two. There's a lot of grey areas to assess and think through and a ton of ambiguity to deal with. Think of the idea that technology are like Lego blocks that cover the business. This means the business must be fully understood in order to determine the best business strategy which IT helps enable. Here are the order of thought - Vision, Values, Mission and Objectives. Strategies that do not support these four core pillars should likely not be executed. If a company vision changes, there's a massive impact. Its a lot more complex than can be typed in 750 characters, so come along - add your experiences. We can learn from one another.

Attend industry conferences, webinars, and networking events to connect with professionals in the field. Leverage platforms like LinkedIn to build your professional network.

Focus on quantifiable outcomes, such as successful project implementations, cost-saving initiatives, or leadership roles in technology transformations. You should always have a current resume ready. I have a basic template that I customize based on the specifics of the role I am interested in. There is nothing wrong with having a professional service give your resume a once over, but remember that there are no guarantees any specific format is better than any other. Look at the experience you have gained in your past roles and develop a list of key words to highlight and tailor your experience to the keywords in the postings you are submitting to. Be sure to save each version once tailored as you will find it normal to reuse the resume with minor tweeks over and over.

Networking is a powerful tool in the IT Strategy field. Leverage LinkedIn to connect with industry professionals, join relevant groups, and participate in discussions. Attend conferences, webinars, and local meetups to build relationships with peers and thought leaders. Remember, networking is a two-way street; offer value to your connections by sharing insights or assisting with their challenges.

It is a unique time to network. Even those employed and 'secure' have a sense they should have a bigger/stronger network. One source to consider are 'peers'. Others in your industry at a similar level and background. More mature professionals understand the value of this on it's own, i.e. sharing of best practices, etc. But your peers are getting the calls you might want and vice-versa. Just reach out, write a note and connect. This is a time people will often engage.

Your network and brand are super important. It needs to be nurtured, grown, curated and eventually it will pay dividends. Building relationships allows you to become an expert in a particular field or thought leader in a space where you will become a top voice.. .but even then this needs to be grown and nurtured. Like all great brands.. they're memorable!

Networking is the key to finding a new gig. The adage used to be "it is not what you know but who you know". That has been replaced with "It's not what you know, or who you know, but what who you know knows!" I find LinkedIn to be highly effective connecting and maintaining contact with managers and co-workers in my past and present engagements. When initiating a job search reach out to your contacts at search firm, recruiters, and hiring managers. Let then know you are looking and ask if they know of anyone hiring, When you get a list of leads that have openings, check to see if any of those in your network work at those organizations, then reach out to see if they can give you any info or recommendations to the hiring manager.

For up to 5 years of your professional career, one should be open to trying out any role they are offered. This gives an opportunity to decide on what you would like to do for the long term and what you definitely don't like. Even if you are not offered the opportunity, network with other colleagues in different roles and understand their roles and interdependencies on other roles. This helps you understand how a project works, which is very essential for leadership roles down the line.

Understand the job market trends, key employers, and the specific requirements of each position. Utilize job boards, company websites, and industry reports to gather information. This knowledge not only helps in tailoring your application but also prepares you for interviews, where you can demonstrate a deep understanding of the role and the company.

Creo que para Estar vigente en el mercado laboral particularmente en el área de TI es sumamente te importante mantenerse al día, mantener una disciplina de actualización constante en algunas ocasiones hasta un sentido autodidacta para adaptarse y prepararse para el mercado actual en cuanto a posiciones laborales se refiere. Está capacidad no es sencilla ya que obliga a ser y estar siempre en las tendencias tecnológicas de la industria.

We are all professionals in IT. As the IT world evolved and technology advances it is incumbent for each of us to keep our skills and abilities current to meet new challenges. While you may not have a specific skill, you can show that you work to improve yourself consistently and are not afraid to learn new tricks. Someone who is trainable and anxious to expand their capabilities often has an advantage over someone with experience as they don't have bad habits to relearn.

When job searching keep associates who are also looking in mind when talking to recruiters. Referring someone to an opportunity you are not a fit for will guarantee others will do the same for you. What is not a fit for you is a fit for someone else.
